Singapore Grand Prix Preview - Red Bull

Max Verstappen: "It was an incredible feeling to win in Malaysia and a hugely proud moment for the Team, being our first win as a power unit manufacturer.

"It felt like a long time coming and a special achievement for everyone. We are just trying to keep improving the car every race and hopefully we can continue this good form into Singapore, being the last race of this triple header. I think the win was quite track specific so we will need to see how we go heading into this week. I enjoy this track as a street circuit, and it has a lot of corners and is quite bumpy. The heat is obviously a factor but at least we are racing at night race this time around. Singapore is a race that I haven't won before, so it does feel like unfinished business at this track."

Isack Hadjar: "In the end, Malaysia didn't quite work out for me as I'd hoped, but it was a great result for the Team and a special moment for everyone involved. The good thing about a triple header is that you're straight into the next one and can reset immediately, and that's the way I've always worked. Singapore is a race I really look forward to; it's one of my favourite tracks on the calendar, and night races have a special vibe too. The conditions are always brutal here, but I have experience from last year and even from last week in Malaysia, so it's not something I'm worried about. If we can take the performance from Baku and the learnings from Malaysia, we're in for a positive weekend."

Ben Hodgkinson - Technical Director, Red Bull Ford Powertrains: "Just sixteen races into our journey, the Team has achieved something extraordinary: our first race victory as a Formula 1 power unit manufacturer. Five years ago, this project was little more than an ambitious idea, so to achieve our first win in our first season of competition is a huge milestone and a reward for the whole organisation.

"More than anything, it is a validation of the belief, ambition and hard work that have gone into the programme from day one. This accomplishment is not the product of one race weekend, one decision or one breakthrough. It is the result of years of relentless effort and thousands of individual contributions from across the business, whose ambition, mindset and competitive spirit have led to something exceptional.

"We would like to thank everyone at Red Bull, in Milton Keynes and at Ford, who has played a part in making this achievement possible. Winning this early does not mean the job is done. There is still a huge amount for us to learn and improve, but it is an important proof point that we are heading in the right direction. Singapore is next and the track presents a very different challenge, with the heat, humidity and demands of a street circuit placing significant pressure on both the car and the power unit. We will take confidence from this first victory, but our focus remains on continuing to develop and deliver more wins."

Stats & Facts

• Victory in Sepang marked Max's 72nd victory for Oracle Red Bull Racing, tying the number of victories taken by Michael Schumacher during his legendary stint at Ferrari from 1996-2006. Max is now only 12 wins short of the all-time record for wins with a single constructor (Lewis Hamilton's 84 wins for Mercedes).

• The win also extended Max's streak of winning at least one Grand Prix in the past 11 seasons, a record only beaten by Hamilton and Schumacher (tied at 15).

• Max scored the 15th 'hat-trick' of his career at Sepang by winning from Pole and setting the fastest lap of the race - which he did so on the final lap in Malaysia. He sits third on the all-time list, behind Hamilton (19) and Schumacher (22).

• Isack's third place in Q3 at Sepang matched the best Qualifying performance of his F1 career, having also been third in Q3 at the season-opener in Melbourne.

• Max has led 234 laps in the sprint format. No other driver has yet reached 100 laps led (George Russell is second on the list, with 82 laps led).
